Rangoli Hand Patterns

Rangoli is a colorful Indian art made on the floor of doorstep to welcome guests. These designs are created using traditional color powders, rice grains and stone colors. These are generally made for festivals, such as Diwali, when people visit each other’s to exchange greetings and sweets. The designs are usually geometric. These often include shapes taken from nature such as leaves, flowers and mango fruits.

For designing Patterns own, firstly drawn out it by your hand. A traditional rangoli can be drawn using one continuous hand movement without any gaps in the design. The colored seeds and powders are then used to fill the pattern.

Decide on the size and shape of your rangoli according to the place to be design. Draw your design on paper to make it balanced. Experiment with lots of shapes and patterns.
