Rangoli is a beautiful and nice human art of India. This is very ancient art of the country. People during various occasions and festivals draw various rangoli designs on entrance door of the house and on the walls. They draw rangoli for decoration and in welcome of their deities. Many festivals in India are famous for colorful rangoli patterns rituals. Ganpati Utsav or Ganesh Chaturthi is also a famous festival of India. On this day people prays for their wealth and also makes colorful rangoli for lord Ganesha’s pooja ceremony.

Lord Ganesha is the lord of prosperity, wisdom and good fortune. Lord Ganesha is the son of lord Shiva and Parvati. Lord Shiva
declared that his son Ganesha will worship first before any other god. Ganesh Chaturthi is the festival during that time people worship their deity for wisdom, good fortune and prosperity. Lord Ganesha had taken birth during these days of Ganesh Chaturthi.
During Ganesh Chatrurthi in various parts of the country people celebrate this festival with great joy and enthusiasm. They prepare delicious sweets, they wear colorful cloths, prays their deity lord Ganesha.
They also make Artistic Ganpati Rangoli in Ganpati temple. They also lighted diyas with rangoli designs. They prepare colorful Ganesh rangoli design by using brush, pencil, rice powder etc. People in Mumbai celebrate this festival of Ganesh Chaturthi with great joy each of the year. They dances and appreciates music during worshiping lord Ganesha.
Ganesh Chatuthi Festival and Rangoli are not only famous in India but also famous in other countries of the world. One of our Reader M.CHITHRA (M.Tech.) has sent us a ganesha rangoli. It was made on some occasion at Madurai and won 2nd prize in that competition.
