Rangoli Geometric Design Patterns

Many activities and rituals have been used in the past in India to please the God for peaceful livings. One such tradition is the drawing of Rangoli’s on the floor near the main doorway to the house to ward off evil spirits.

Rangoli, a traditional fine art form has been common all over India. It is a joining of two different words – ranga and valli (row of colors). It can also be used on walls, as well as floors as an art.

Most Rangoli’s patterns are geometrical that include many things such as: Lines, Circles, Triangles, Footprints, Trees, Flowers, Swastikas, Lotus, Trident, Spirals and Animals. These basic Rangoli style designs can be design easily and require less mind work. Here are two nice examples of geometrical designs of rangoli art.
