Making a Rangoli is an art of its own. Though it is made by using the same colour and powders, like any form of Art it lets the creative aspect of the mind come into play.
Young girls and Women fight it out in many local as well as major competitions in order to win the prize for making the best rangoli. The more creatively made the Rangoli, the more chances of it being considered the best.
Rangoli making competitions are held in schools and colleges, where the students actively take interest an draw Rangolis out side the doors of the class rooms and the labs.
These competitions are also held with in societies. The families of the building get involved in making Rangolis and the best Rangoli drawn outside someone’s flat walks away with the prize. The Rangoli competition may also be arranged by numerous clubs and associations all across the major city in India.
Generally the competitions are arranged for young girls from schools and colleges. Even the women are allowed to participate in many competitions. The festival takes place at different times in different parts of the country and hence the date of the competition may vary from place to place.
